Growing up, I wanted to be financially independent and be able to pay for my own expenses. When I had to pursue my graduation, I decided to take an Education Loan. So, in many ways, I made my first investment decision with an Education Loan to help me complete my course without any financial obstacles.
I started my investment journey with Equity Linked Saving Scheme (ELSS) at the age of 22. ELSS gave me the option to lock in my wealth for a short period of time – 3 years.
The returns would not only be used for repaying my college loan, but also let me invest the wealth in another form of assets which gave me a sense of ownership.
My preferred choice of financial instrument is Mutual Funds. I prefer investing in Mutual Funds, as they have the long-term benefit for my wealth investments. I do not have to worry about its growth by tracking the markets very closely to yield satisfactory returns in the future.
One tip which I would like to give my younger self would be that don't concentrate about the wealth you would earn form your salary, but the earnings you would receive from your savings.
